Sr. PE PM Mechanical Engineer – New Haven, CT.

The Senior Project Manager/Mechanical Engineer will provide senior client management, senior project management/technical oversight, business development and leadership support toward the execution and growth of the project portfolio of this New England Healthcare team.  Will direct healthcare projects from inception to conclusion, to ensure client satisfaction, and communicate objectives to the project teams. Oversee the engineers dedicated to the NE healthcare team.  In coordination with AKF leadership, Senior Project Manager/Mechanical Engineer will participate in business development activities for the NE Region, presenting on behalf of the firm at industry events, and helping to build the NE healthcare team.

What you will do:

  • Serve as primary client contact, pursue new clients and projects
  • Respond to RFP’s, prepare proposals, implement production, ensure productivity, quality, and client service standards
  • Resolve issues and is responsible for overall client satisfaction
  • Meet the firm’s financial objectives for projects managed
  • Manage contract scope and fee, prepare, and monitor project plans, schedule resources and expenditures and prepare budgets
  • Manage data for invoicing, resolve accounts receivable issues, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions in collaboration with Project Controls team and Firms leadership
  • Supervise multi-disciplinary technical teams, including consultants, and act as the primary liaison with the client and architect
  • Responsible for meeting the client’s project goals and objectives while adhering to the firm’s QA/QC process
  • Familiarize and understand business development objectives
  • Assists in business development (BD) by pursuing new work including participation in client presentations
  • Participates in additional BD activities, such as attendance at industry fairs and conferences, sponsorships, etc., budgets for which are developed mutually with firms leadership, also accesses, and coordinates the support of firms Marketing department for healthcare marketing campaigns 
  • Assists in the firm’s human resource efforts through training and mentoring junior firm members
  • Enhances the firm’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing internal and external client requests
  • Demonstrates core values and serves as a role model/mentor to all firm members
  • Represents the company in a professional manner in all dealings with owners, architects, vendors, other design professionals and contractors
  • Updates job knowledge and technical expertise by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in technical organizations, and obtaining certifications in area of expertise and participating in the firm’s Technical Committee as requested.

Job Requirements

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited engineering program
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in a consulting engineer firm
  • 10+ years of leadership experience managing Healthcare engineering projects
  • Comprehensive understanding of the architectural, engineering and construction industry and knowledge of code compliance requirements and industry standards
  • Ability to consistently set goals, meet deadlines and adapt to flexible responsibilities
  • Ability to meet and exceed client expectations
  • Proficient understanding of project financial parameters
  • Advanced knowledge of contracts and project legal issues
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, decision making and analytical skills
  • Possess strong verbal, written, analytical, persuasive, and interpersonal skills
  • Effective business development and client management skills, with a record of success in increasing business awards for healthcare facilities engineering projects
  • Experience with Deltek or Project Resource Management software is a plus
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit
