General:
In the age of energy and sustainability, commissioning and retro-commissioning services are vital to ensuring optimal usage and longevity of building systems and functionality. Firm’s Commissioning group helps ensure that our client’s project requirements are achieved; delivering peak performance at any point of the building’s lifespan. Our team works to seamlessly deliver key quality assurance aspects of each project from design reviews, commissioning and Operations & Maintenance training turnover, to operational design intent compliance and sustainability. What you will do:
Assist in the preparation of commissioning plans and specifications, prepare design document and submittal review comments
Assist in the documentation processes and in the development of procedures related to commissioning activities
Learn/evaluate fundamental engineering guidelines, code compliance requirements and industry standards
Examine and evaluate field conditions and report findings to key project stakeholders
Perform functional testing of building systems with a focus on electrical and energy-using systems
Attend meetings with owners and building managers to facilitate the commissioning process
Perform field investigation of building electrical and lighting systems
Perform building energy audits and retro-commissioning
Prepare building benchmarking based on utility consumption (monthly or increased frequency interval data, if available)
Evaluate Building Automation System performance including establishing and reviewing historical trend data
Evaluate building systems to develop data logger deployment plan, implement plan, collect data, and evaluate to understand building/systems performance and energy consumption
Review and evaluate meter and sub-meter data
Perform calculations of proposed capital and operational improvement measures to determine energy/cost savings.
Represent the company in a professional manner in all dealings with owners, owners, vendors, other design professionals and contractors
Participate in educational opportunities, read professional publications, participate in technical organizations and obtain certifications in area of expertise in order to increase job knowledge and technical expertise
Interstate travel is periodically required
Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
What you will need:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited engineering program or equivalent building science degree – Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.
0-3 years of experience with a consulting engineering firm or commissioning firm
Strong organizational, prioritization, decision making and analytical skills
Possess clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
Ability to consistently set goals, meet deadlines, and adapt to flexible responsibilities
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision as well as in a highly collaborative team environment
Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and work effectively as part of a project team
Ability to understand and meet client expectations
Beginning understanding of the architectural, engineering and construction industry
Introductory knowledge of MEP building systems, electrical systems and testing, electrical testing equipment and electrical commissioning requirements
Introductory knowledge of code compliance requirements and industry standards
Introductory understanding or willingness to learn to operate electrical testing equipment such as power quality meters, circuit breaker test sets, contact/insulation resistance meters and infrared cameras
Introductory understanding or willingness to learn pre-functional and functional commissioning requirements
Introductory understanding or willingness to learn NETA electrical testing
Introductory understanding or willingness to learn Short Circuit/Coordination/ Arc Flash Studies is preferred
Introductory understanding or willingness to learn sustainable design practices and facilities operations
Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Experience with SKM software or similar is preferred but not required
Experience with Deltek Vision or Project Resource Management software is preferred but not required
Required/Preferred Credentials:
EIT certification is preferred
Commissioning, energy management, or LEED certifications are preferred.
Salary 75-90 K plus bonus.
